“Electric” triptych and “Clarity”

[2026 note: The “Electric” triptych was a series of abstract studies that laid the groundwork for the painting, Clarity. My intention was to create a heavily abstracted figure painting that evoked a calligraphic sense of movement, an ode to my new studies in Chinese calligraphy at the time. The “Electric” studies ended up becoming works of art on their own.]

Abstract layers WIP 💖 recently i realized that the way i’ve been creating art is based off some romanticized ideal of how and what an artist “should” create. which is kind of ridiculous because ummmm i didn’t quit my 9-5 just to be bound by yet another set of “rules” dictating what i should and should not do?! so i’m once again experimenting with my style and on each iteration i feel like i’m getting closer and closer to myself ❤️

I swear painting & making art is way more problem solving than you’d think. Like I start with a very clear vision of the look/vibe/emotion i want to evoke, and all the work goes into testing out different methods and techniques to achieve this vibe, given the constraints of my own enjoyment and my own skill. and repeatedly iterating on this, getting closer and closer to my desired vision each time.
